A few scant months after the now infamous date of 22 February 1999 that would come to be known as Black Monday, when Sierra On-Line announced the shutdown of its development studios, a group of Quest for Glory fans on the company's official message board were discussing the impossibility of ever seeing another sequel to their favorite series. A few words were exchanged on their disappointment at…

good article. unfortunately on some levels i do agree with the anonymous guy, just because i know several peeps who have released many games - all on their onesie. some of them, i would rate much higher than the "group" games, but that's ok.

i do believe that many people have the talent to make high quality games on their own, because it is in fact being done all the time.

anyway despite all that, teams are good and having direction and motivation to get a game done is also good. i myself would love to create a team for my adventure games only because it would speed up the process. i've been trying to create a team for the last four years with no success, having a knack for meeting people who seem excited but disappear in a matter of weeks. :(

but yeah, good article! :)

Very Good

to anonymous:
I think you missed something. The article simply encourages people to try to make a game, if it is their dream.
Of course it's hard work, but hey, if you made it so congratulations!
Anyway, I think the article is very good and for me, being part of a game designer group is a dream.

exactly. there you go ahead and talk to me like i haven't released something and telling me sarcastically that "we would love to see it" as if i'll never make a game and you would love to see me experience how much work it is. haha. each time the response is "so, release a game and show us" AS IF no one else is in fact releasing games. open your eyes.

In response to anonymous, none of our groups are preventing you from making your own game. By all means, go ahead and release yours, as myself and the rest of the fangame community would love to see it. :)

i hate it when people say its soooo hard work to finish a game, just because they finished one (and pretend that they are the only people actually finishing games). there are one-man and two-man teams who finished a lot more games than adgi and ia, with much higher quality and ORIGINALITY. you don't hear them telling other people, "oh, it's so much hard work making a game, i'm just going to discourage all of you from making games by continually repeating it and keep on reminding you how much you should value me, because i actually finished a game and how spectacular i am for doing just that."
