Memento Mori (also known as Memento Mori: The Secret to Eternal Life) is an aptly named game. A Latin phrase originated circa 1585 C.E., memento mori means literally "remember to die"—a reminder of death or mortality, especially of our own, but also a reminder of human failures or errors. This phase lends itself well to both the title and the theme of the game ("the secret of eternal life can be…

Hi Missy,
I read your plight yesterday about playing Memento Mori. This part of the game is a little tricky, but this is exactly how I got through it without any problems. Follow these instructions and you should get through to the next stage.

At the Hermitage

Enter the hall inside the Hermitage. Enter into the corridor. Go back into the hall as it is the only place where you can get a signal to be able to use the cell phone. Call Ostankovic. He asks you to look around and examine everything very closely and that the security has been turned off. You are to call him back if you find anything. Inside the corridor, right click on the barrier sign and you realize that restoration work is going on and a painting has been removed. Go back to the hall and call Ostankovic to report nothing unusual has happened. Someone runs out of the corridor and past you. Go back to the corridor and notice a broken rope and fallen restraint where the barrier is. Go through the barrier to the wall where the missing painting was. It is dark, so use the lighter to give some light. Examine the wall and floor closely and you see the flame flicker from a draft, suggesting a secret compartment. There is a small gap leading to a secret door. Go back to the broken barrier and right click on it for a close-up view. Get the rope and the back hook which unscrews. Put the hook into the gap on the wall to open the secret door.

Good Luck

Hi Steve, I read your plight while checking out something else on the site. I have played this game and hopefully I can help you through.
I presume this time in the game is at Max's first visit to The Hermitage in Act 2. Once he gets into The Hermitage, Max phones Ostankovic. The only place where you can make the call is in the main vase gallery by the window. You will get no signal anywhere else. After speaking to Ostankovic, go into the paintings gallery and look around. Concentrate on the area where the gallery is set up for Peter the Great's hallway. You need to examine the barrier closely. You can then go back to the window area in the vase gallery to call Ostankovic again. There is nothing else to do up until this stage. The second call triggers further involvement into the game.
Good luck

Very Good

Need Help!! It won't let me (Max) make the second phone call in the Hermitage. Keeps saying I should look around more. Tab key only shows one hotspot in each room.
Help?
Thanks,
Steve
