Hi GregC. I actually really like BOTH types of adventures, but felt this feel short of being a good example of either. You are right about the puzzles in Gobliiins being tricky. I don't mind a challenge, but when it takes 20 minutes of clicking everything just to see what works, I don't find myself having fun. Trial and error should not take up an entire game. I would have never figured out many of the puzzles with logic, because there wasn't any present a lot of the time. As well, my full review marks it down for more than just this point. Even the save system is outdated and unfriendly! Sadly, my opinion of the game stands firm, and please note I did complete it to the very end, with minimal use of UHS when I got stuck. (So I did give myself the full experience, within reason.) 2 stars is what I feel it deserves, 100%.

Very Good

There should be an official distinction between puzzle-adventures (like Goblins, Rhem and Myst) and traditional adventures. Too many good puzzle adventures like Gobliiins 4 take it on the chin in reviews because they're simply different. Some of the puzzles in Gobliiins 4 are tricky. But, as with the other games in the series, there's supposed to be some trial-and-error, some goofy experimentation. Since each scene is limited to one screen, a player can eventually piece everything together. In fact that's the whole fun of it.
