Very interesting interview, but one question remains unanswered. Is Dean the Dream still looking for a jumpshot after all these years?
Thomas?
Herr Doktor Klingmann here.
Show our wolves to Mr. Knight (?)
Excellent interview! I loved this game, and Mr. Erickson’s portrayal of Gabriel Knight is a big reason for that. I haven’t played it in a few years but I always think about it from time to time, especially when I come across elements from the game in real life, like cuckoo clocks and german sausage. I really wish they would expand upon this character in more games or books or movies.
Great Interview! What about the Will Binder-Interview that is mentioned in the “related articles"-section? It seems, it´s not online, yet. Anything to come?
I think Dean did a wonerful jod as G. Night. I really think he should do another game as G. Night. Thanks Dean for making that game stand out in my mind.
Nice to hear from Dean Erickson who did a fantastic job as Gabriel Knight in the second part of the series. I have played this game few times through and it is just amazing. It has got great acting, story, music and places. This game has gotten to my mind: various images from different events of the game, the music haunts me sometimes.. I actually feel this is like a movie that I can experience over and over again without losing interest, unlike other games lose interest after playing once through. I can’t wait to play it again after I have read the Sins of the Fathers book.. Absolutely the best adventure game! Dean did a great job and if it will happen that he acts in some production, I would look to that with great interest. You were cool as Gabriel Knight!
Dean Erickson played the most fabulous take on Gabriel Knight- the perfect combination between the lack of motivated GK and sensitivity too. I found him to be far more interesting and engaging than Tim Curry in the other two games. Just like Timothy Dalton played the best James Bond ever in Living Daylights, so Dean Erickson brought Gabriel Knight to his fullest potential (along with the fabulous cast, THE BEAST WITHIN was the head and shoulders best of any of the games). GK2 was the only one of the series that I ever played over and over again of any game.
It was so fun to live there once in a while. :D
I wish I was a big shot director in Hollywood so I could hire Mr. Erickson for a role in my movie. He sure would deserve it. It’s funny how when I played a Gabriel Knight game and finished it I had a terrible urge to go visit the places where he had had his adventures. Rennes la Chateu in the third one and Southern Germany in the second one. Of course a sad fact is that the New Orleans that is in the first game doesn’t exist anymore. But it’s great to see that Mr. Erickson is doing fine and I wish all the best for him.
I am just glad there was an interview! I just now finished playing the Beast Within and was about to cry because it was over :( So, for the first time for pretty much anything, I actually watched the credits to see who this oh-so-hot actor was who played Gabriel. I’ll be darned that he isn’t still acting. Although now I will have to get past episodes of Frasier! Dean Erickson did a fantastic job bringing the knight character to life! I am always a little slow on the uptake - playing this in 2006 and all but I had seen it rated in the all time best adventure games so I checked it out. Awesome game! Awesome actor! Just kind bites that there isn’t a movie with him playing the character. Ah well, I will go play part 3 and imagine Dean playing it instead. Tim Curry who?
a great actor for a great game…
