Survival horror is a phrase that Resident Evil has helped to popularize in the world of gaming. Also known as Bio Hazard in Japan, the game is originally released for Sony PlayStation by Capcom in 1996, for which it has since risen to become a huge seller. It has received numerous accolades from gamers for its stunning visuals, nonstop blood and gore, and the ability to invoke in the player the…

Capcom was very clever to copy the concept of alone in the dark and mix it up with newest gfx (that time ago!) and ta-ta! We have Resident Evil for the psx (96)/later pc too(97). But with a plus of action it was a very good game at that time, 1 of the game killers and reasons to buy a playstation consoles. I have to agree with micheal about RE4, that was the title where RE finally leaved the road of the copy "alone in the dark" concept thing and created a very special and new kind of action-adventures.... RE1 is great but RE4 is 1 of the best games of all time!

the resident evil series is one of the most original and amazing game series made. My personal favourite is Resident evil 3 as this has some of the best charcters (the Mercenarys) Carlos, Mikhail and Nicholai.

Very Good

as expected, playing this game today it is very dated, however taken on its own terms it is brilliant. the first of one of the most famous series of games ever, in my opinion it was not until Res 4 that the mansion environment was bettered for the creep factor.

the only thing that lets it down when playing through again are the rather slow, fairly cunky controls when fighting fast - moving enemies, and the inventory system (you may find yourself spending large chunks of time backtracking for one minor puzzle item that you had no forewarning you should have taken with you from the last save point).

i don't think i'll ever get rid of this game for the sheer tense atmosphere that is generated with it's great concept, horror movie (and very difficult!) camera work and sheer thrill factor involved when walking into a zombie ambush!

Jill question...right, you need the imitation of a key. Go to the U shaped corridor on the east side of the mansion on 2F and enter the west corridor office where you will find a dog whistle. Now go to the dining room balcony into the stairwell and unlock the green door which leads outside. Blow the whistle, kill the dogs and grab the collar. Check it and the coin should elongate to form the imitation key. Go to the wizzy fan corridor and swap the keys. Watch out for the crimson head!

Hey got a question for Resident Evil. I'm Jill and I've just found a key but when I pick it up all the walls close and this fan comes towards me and won't stop until it kills me. I know I need the key but I don't know how to get out of the trap.
